Post: Don't, don't, don't, don't you...

...As you walk on by, will you call my name?
When you walk away...

And so, regretfully, hiatus.

There's a truckload of work, and for some reason fandom isn't the frivolous happy fantasyspace it used to be? The damn music industry's a fickle, incomprehensible thing. And my well's dry, y'all; I recognize it's time to take a step back.

I'm totally grateful for everything fandom's given me, and for all of you. I still care; I'll still be about these guys, and about you all - that won't change. I'll still be here, dancing, you know it, baby.

You need me -- for a listening ear, for views on holiday plans, for a quick consult or beta -- I'm just a PM away.

One fandom thing that's given me real pleasure these last few days: discussing our boy's new song with [profile] otherbella and [profile] princessleia04, and the new pictures, from which [personal profile] naughtiest made a poster for the hottest new cop show on the block - IDOLS5-0! Or something like that, anyway.

And the show where they're thugs? Here :)

I will check mails, likely lurk, and possibly surface in some shape or form when that sophomore record does. Until then, I hope you'll all treat each other kindly, and will stay in touch - look my way, call my name, don't walk on by.

And so: slow change may pull us apart - when the light gets into your heart... baby, don't you forget about me.

Very sad to hear you'll not be around, but if it's all right with you, I may still e-mail you about various legal history shenanigans.

(Also, my fandoms have been dead for c. 400 years and are, generally speaking, wank-free...if you're looking for entertainment, that is. ;) )

You can totally email me! I'm glad I'm not fired as legalbeta :)

Ah, I am not sure there is such a creature as a wank-free fandom. No? But I adore you for the offer, sweetness ♥

Oh, we do have wank. I give you exhibit A. But it is at least bizarre and entertaining wank?

[identity profile] jehane-writes.livejournal.com 2011-03-09 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, that is really bizarre wank! I don't think anyone's called me (or anyone) a cheese sandwich in this fandom, so your fandom's trolls totally win XDD

Relevantly to my initial point: when you start getting your knickers in a twist and start attacking people over a board game, the (established variant) spelling of a minor fic character's name, and footnotes, and you aren't a teenager, you should have the wherewithal to think, /Maybe it's not you, but me/, and figure a break is best, no?

[identity profile] lareinenoire.livejournal.com 2011-03-09 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
Shockingly, the troll in question is a grandmother. I don't know whether or not that makes it worse...

I do believe the cheese sandwich was directed at me and [livejournal.com profile] angevin2, possibly because we happen to be the co-mods of the annual fic exchange in which the troll quite pointedly does not participate and only comments to remark upon my spelling fail. ;)

And also because we were SO UNCOUTH as to decide that since we were transposing the Plantagenets to the Victorian era they needed a new surname.

I mean, clearly we don't get this stuff at all.

but at least we know what affrerement means...

Hey, it's the other sandwich ;)

People in glass houses, right? She sounds like she isn't a stranger to the bizarre cross-over or spelling and vocabulary!fail. She also sounds grumpy as all hells, which obviously means she's a barrel of fandom fun, right?

AUs require artistic licence! I was talking to [livejournal.com profile] frackin_sweet last year about writing a Roman-era American Idol fandom AU, but we got hung up on the transposed new nomenclature this might require. (We did think that if we called our protagonist Biggus Davidus - in the Pythonian sense - we might get fired from fandom, so ;))

Hee, she clearly intended to cheese sandwichify the two of you and those stupid enough to play along.

And she did come off rather cranky British grandmother! I maintain my premise that she should have some insight into how she's coming across. One of the reasons why I think I should take a step back is because I am getting kind of instinctively eyerolly with fandom, and I know I need to take a sanity check before I start bitching out board games and calling people sandwiches ;)

<- btw, thanks for giving me a new and interesting way to explain my need for hiatus! *wanders off, polishing my new cheese sandwich analogy*
