Meh, I'm feeling somewhat written out - I am working on a wedding story (a separate story
from the one on which I'm collaborating with the fabulous

frackin_sweet), and it's not going too well - and I want to start on this cracky R possibly-canon, possibly-AU bordello fic, and my guitars-by-gaslight AUbigbang, but I have just no impetus.

And I'm in Court this afternoon, WOE.

As a way of importuning the Muses, I thought I might try the drabbular method recently employed by

kissesblow,

orochi_kitty and

otherbella.

Hundred word drabbles, snatches of story, any Cook, Anthemic, AIS7 pairing; crossovers with X-Men, BtVS/AtS, Discworld, Holmes, The Law. I think I have a tiny legalesque Cook/Ryan Seacrest somewhere! "Damn it, nothing's working!" Cook flings his pen down on the blank page, and unhoists his guitar from around his neck. He glares at it as if he could fling it, too.

His Muse rolls his eyes. You throw that, you'll never get over this block today, he says reasonably.

Cook transfers his glare to his Eames sofa. The Muse has perched on its curved back, long limbs gleaming under his classical tunic, the circlet of gold leaves slightly askew on his dark hair. "And why aren't you helping me?" Cook wants to know.

The Muse shrugs, his dark eyes bright with mischief, or some other emotion. Um, I'm not feeling too inspired, either, he murmurs. I'm kind of thinking, maybe you don't love me any more, David Cook. It's been a while since you've offered me any libations, or, you know, anything at all.

Cook gets to his feet, and walks over to the sofa. The Muse slides onto the broad body of the Eames, stretches out one graceful arm. You know, when you were a struggling artist, you'd offer to me all the time. You might not have had a lot of coin, but you'd offer wine, and companionship, and late nights. I remember you used to write into the small hours of the morning, in my arms.

The Muse leans back, his thighs part, one bare leg dangles to the floor. And you'd offer love, David. Now you're famous, I'm not sure you still feel the same about me, about us. Maybe you wanna go offer to Erato, or Calliope, or the other Muses. I hear these days Calli's tight with Adam Lambert, you should give her a call.

Cook sits on the edge of the sofa, puts a hand on the Muse's hip. "I'll always love you," he tells his Muse, his beloved. "I'm sorry I don't show it as much as I used to, but I'm yours, forever, and no one else's."

Then you can show me now, the Muse says, softly, and raises his all-inspiring arms to Cook's at last.

I just knew you could do something amazing with that prompt, bb! :D I love the angsty edge to this, and how you portrayed Archie the Muse. I also love how you mentioned Cook writing in the small hours of the morning, in Archie's arms, and then how you end it with Archie raising his "all-inspiring arms" to Cook. Beautiful ♥___♥

I loved that prompt so much, bb, so glad you liked what I did with it! Love Greek mythology, and the interplay between Muses and artists. And I liked the image of Arch as Polyhymnia, so inspiring! Thank you! ♥

Late reply is late, but I LOVE Greek mythology, too! I guess that's why the prompt popped into my head to begin with. I can just picture Archie as Polyhymnia and what he would look like. Mmm, delicious :9 (Archie's skin tone is perfect for a little Greek creature anyway, haha.)

Oh, Christine, that is SO precious - Cook and guitar, possibly in a state of undress, writin', and his Muse, arms wrapped around him, touching him intimately. I am in love with this image, ngl!

:D I love writing in this whimsical, myth-anthropormorphic way Neil Gaiman, one'a my fave writers, does this SO well, I'm so happy to follow in his footsteps!

OH. IT WAS LIKE, KIND OF ANGSTY, BUT ROMANTIC TOO. AND I LOVE THIS SO SO MUCH. OH MY GOSH. I WANT LIKE, 50K EPIC SERIES OF THIS. IT'S SO AMAZING. uarhjal. i don't even know what to say, just. this is so good. and the feeling of it is amazing. all osughjl. IDON'T EVENKNOW AHHH. it's just, IDK. the details and the descriptions just make it very ethereal~ and soft and blurry. like a memory from a long time ago, but nostalgic and stuff. Aw, hon, you are so sweet. Arch is a Muse, right? An anthropormorphic representation of Inspiration himself. So of course he speaks like this. :D

:D! haha, it makes him all mysterious~ and mature. which he would be, after living for hundreds of years, hopefully. :D ngl, adult!archie is a curious thing to wonder about, and this teases the brain.

;) I love the thought of adult Archie too, actually. That was one of my chief motivations for making "All I Really Need" - I wanted to explore how the boys address their relationship as they mature and age. I hope you think I made Arch's journey realistic, and that he grows into his Chapter 10, Chapter 12 self credibly!
