Hi, f-list! Check out the awesome new layout which the amazingly talented ciudad made for me! I was really excited to win her services for help_haiti, and she is not only gifted but a real sweetheart (she also provides tech support!). In addition, she’s gonna make me a surprise thing – how is that not sheer win? *dances around*

Separately, I do realize this LJ has been pretty much all American Idol all the time, but I actually do enjoy several other fandoms, including that of the original good Doctor (not you, Tiemann). While Eleven does intrigue me, and I have actually always loved Eccleston, my favorite Dr. is the delectable Ten, played by a David! Tennant’s older than our beloved Dave Cook, but as gorgeous, even more articulate, elegant, and at the same a time total geek. He might not have the Cookster’s guitar-playing biceps, but he is as utterly shag-worthy, ahem.



Ten had the hottest Companions, also! I am most partial to Captain Jack, played by the hot-as-burning John Barrowman, who is a fantastic singer as well as an actor. I have on repeat John’s cover of this fantastic 80s song with Daniel Boys, which is an original Elaine Paige/Barbara Dickson duet from the musical CHESS, “I Know Him So Well”. Cue showcase of Barrowman’s gorgeous upper register and the man himself in a lovely shade of pink, and my heart breaking into little pieces from this reminder of my angsty childhood. “Wasn’t he good, wasn’t he fine, isn’t it madness he can’t be mine?” We all comfort ourselves thus: at least we knew him well.

Even the good Doctor himself can’t resist! See this awesome, gallant Tennant/Barrowman kiss at Comicon 2009, originally brought to my attention by goseward. I love David’s look of intent, and how he grins and cups John’s face and moves in slow, and how John goes pink to the ears and fans himself and faux-swoons. “I’ve been waiting for that for years!” Yeah, John, it totally shows. ♥.

ETA: It would appear in the intervening years that Barrowmann has no lack of willing kissing partners? HILARIOUS VID WHERE JOHN KISSES AND FLUSTERS EVERYONE.

Finally: ah, David, David – Archuleta, not Cook or Tennant, and a much younger, less sophisticated and more conservatively religious one. Still love him, and I think he needs love and support – certainly not validation, but not condemnation, either. (Of course people do feel disappointed, and worse, and with good reason.) I am just saying: my wish is for him to grow from the kind, considerate, generous (sheltered, rigidly brought up) teen that he is into the strong, loving and accepting man we know he can be. Okay, that's all.

I react a bit like a mother, being asked to pick between her kids, when I have to choose between the Doctors. I just can't. I love them all for very special reasons, and they're all unique little snowflakes and all that. I mean, Tennant is probably my favourite actor of the three, but as far as Doctors go? Nope. Not going to choose. XD

I will forever and always love Ten. He will always be my Doctor, you know? But I must say, Matt blew my socks off yesterday. Like, whoa. He just is the Doctor. And I hate to say it, but I think I'm going to like Moffat better than Davies. There, I said it. :P

As for Archie, I couldn't not agree with you more. You took the thoughts right out of my head and said them more eloquently than I ever could. Thanks for that.

Btw,When I first read the tweet,I didn't notice it will turn into a huge culture war .. I believed Archie is still a loving and accepting man ,come what may.I understand that some of us are disappointed or hurt by his words which he may not meant that way.Anyway,just saying it probably a good lesson for him to learn his responsibility and how to handle this kind of situation better.Hopefully,he will get more love and support from his fans.

Archie... I was disappointed and a little hurt last night, but I've thought about it (and read his subsequent tweets), and I'm feeling more positive. He is SO not of that party element -- I don't care if it was a gay/straight/mixed club. Dude freaked. People were half-naked! *g* He could have handled the phrasing better initially, but, you know, what's done is done. He made a mistake and I hope he learns from it. *sighs and hopes for the best for him*

OH MY GOD @ Tennant/Barrowman kiss. I bit my hand so I wouldn't scream at 12:20 a.m., and I definitely left teeth marks.

As for Archie, I had no idea what was going on, even when he tweeted, and I had to extrapolate what happened from people's comments and that Advocate article, &c., but overall I'm pretty apathetic about it. As someone said in the comments here, whether it was a gay or straight club, I'm sure it wouldn't have been his scene, and I certainly can't judge him for being uncomfortable. As I said on Twitter, the whole thing kind of makes me uncomfortable, tbh, and I'm staying away from it.

I think it's a little too real, y'know? I'm more sensitive about those kinds of things when it comes to RPF because these are real people, and when you remove yourself from being immersed in fandom, it's really weird that we slash them, which is why I'm a huge proponent of keeping the slash as far away from those involved as possible, and sometimes that means separating the person from the character in your mind.

Ugh, sorry, I'm totally rambling on your LJ. I just had my first coffee in almost two weeks, and...*hands.*

Have you ever seen any of his TV interviews? He is soooo naughty.

Why are people surprised by DA reactions. He's been indoctrinated for years. Maybe now when he starts meeting good people from all walks of life he will develop a more reasoned appreciation of all things.

doctor who is so ridiculous and cheesy, ilit. and david tennant is so enjoyable; he sometimes pops up on the panel shows i watch (qi, never mind the buzzcocks) in velvet suits and i'm all "OH HAI DAVID HAI :DDDDDD"

oh, my feelings for those sets of tweets are jumbled up and messy :/ partially because i've been dealing with a fuckton of lgbt fail in my other fandom (systemic and institutionalized homophobia in skating? i'm shocked, shocked i say!) and in my own life that his statement pinged on me kinda badly. but yes, i still have great hopes for him to live and learn well :)

OMG, its like you crawled inside my brain! David Tennant will always be The Doctor to me (sorry Matt Smith, its just not working) and my love for John Barrowman/Captain Jack is at ridiculous levels. The video is great, esp the music choice - I saw John and Daniel Boys singing I Know Him So Well live and it was just amazing, I was literally mesmerised <3

As for Archie, it was an unfortunate incident but I really think (and hope) it was a case of speaking before thinking rather than anything else. He's going to make mistakes, he just needs to make sure he learns from them.
