…and now at least I know I know him well…

Hi, f-list! Check out the awesome new layout which the amazingly talented [livejournal.com profile] ciudad made for me! I was really excited to win her services for [livejournal.com profile] help_haiti, and she is not only gifted but a real sweetheart (she also provides tech support!). In addition, she’s gonna make me a surprise thing – how is that not sheer win? *dances around*

Thank you so much, my dear! XDD (She wants me to credit [livejournal.com profile] the_fulcrum for the style sheet, and viola!)

Separately, I do realize this LJ has been pretty much all American Idol all the time, but I actually do enjoy several other fandoms, including that of the original good Doctor (not you, Tiemann). While Eleven does intrigue me, and I have actually always loved Eccleston, my favorite Dr. is the delectable Ten, played by a David! Tennant’s older than our beloved Dave Cook, but as gorgeous, even more articulate, elegant, and at the same a time total geek. He might not have the Cookster’s guitar-playing biceps, but he is as utterly shag-worthy, ahem.

Ten had the hottest Companions, also! I am most partial to Captain Jack, played by the hot-as-burning John Barrowman, who is a fantastic singer as well as an actor. I have on repeat John’s cover of this fantastic 80s song with Daniel Boys, which is an original Elaine Paige/Barbara Dickson duet from the musical CHESS, “I Know Him So Well”. Cue showcase of Barrowman’s gorgeous upper register and the man himself in a lovely shade of pink, and my heart breaking into little pieces from this reminder of my angsty childhood. “Wasn’t he good, wasn’t he fine, isn’t it madness he can’t be mine?” We all comfort ourselves thus: at least we knew him well.

Here is my fave Jack/The Doctor fanvid by Hllangel, set to the same song:

Even the good Doctor himself can’t resist! See this awesome, gallant Tennant/Barrowman kiss at Comicon 2009, originally brought to my attention by [livejournal.com profile] goseward. I love David’s look of intent, and how he grins and cups John’s face and moves in slow, and how John goes pink to the ears and fans himself and faux-swoons. “I’ve been waiting for that for years!” Yeah, John, it totally shows. ♥.

ETA: It would appear in the intervening years that Barrowmann has no lack of willing kissing partners? HILARIOUS VID WHERE JOHN KISSES AND FLUSTERS EVERYONE.

EYATA: Doctor Who The Musical - amazing, gorgeous meta vid, featuring the Ten recap and handover from Ten to Eleven (with bonus Nine). LOVE.

And I am now, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] leici, gonna spam with Torchwood kissing photos, from here.

Finally: ah, David, David – Archuleta, not Cook or Tennant, and a much younger, less sophisticated and more conservatively religious one. Still love him, and I think he needs love and support – certainly not validation, but not condemnation, either. (Of course people do feel disappointed, and worse, and with good reason.) I am just saying: my wish is for him to grow from the kind, considerate, generous (sheltered, rigidly brought up) teen that he is into the strong, loving and accepting man we know he can be. Okay, that's all.

*flails* Anything for you, Doctor!

(*ponders*: I'm not sure there has ever been a Who!Cookleta, has there? I'm not sure how much porn it would contain, though XDD. Also: I don't have the historical chops to write Whofic. So it might have to just be generic porn XD.)

Historical chops? What on earth are you talking about, woman? The beauty of Who is that it can be set in any time, place or genre you like. Doesn't actually have to be timey-wimey, you know. ;)

Ah, but the Doctor being the Doctor, he makes these little historical cross-time fillips in conversation. Even in sexing conversation, which I recall you making very well XDDD Hence a knowledge of history is essential!

Mind you, thanks to fecking steampunk fic, I am now REALLY familiar with 1901 NYC.

Most the time his cross-time fillips are just pop-culture references gone slightly astray (Emmeline Pankhurst (I think?) stole my laser spanner. Cheeky woman). You are not going to make me believe you don't know those well enough to write the Doctor! Make him reference Beethoven being deaf or something! Or having peanutbutter & banana sandwiches with Elvis, maybe even teaching him how to make them. Or an apple reminding him of the Beatles making apple pie. Dude. He's just being cheeky and showing off his vast importance. No need for hours of research!
