Oh, I love Les Mis - both the novel (♥) and the musical. I saw Les Mis on Broadway in the early 90s and it was phenomenal (with Debbie Gibson as Eponine and Lacey Chabert as young Cosette even!)

Valjean/Javert would be either hurt/comfort or really REALLY angry sex.

I adore the novel, and I read a recent American Idol AU Enjolras/Grantaire story that made me all ♥_♥.

And I love these tortured friends-or-enemies pairings (I wish someone would write me Ammar/Rodrigo from Guy Kay's "Lions of Al-Rassan"). Valjean/Javert would be hurt/comfort, which lead to ANGRY SEX, and then Javert would suffer an attack of self-loathing and fling himself off a bridge. And cue yet more dramatic sobbing :)
